Linda Hayes
Linda Hayes has been teaching and performing for 25 years.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she studied with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in the professional program where she has trained in all genres of dance with flamenco being her forte.
Linda visits Spain yearly to study and perform. Her teachers:: Belen Maya, Marco Flores, Gala Vivancos, Ana Morales, Eduardo Guerrero, and Rocio Molina.
Linda is accomplished in all dance forms of flamenco. As a trained dancer in Ballet and Modern, she has choreographed countless solos that are traditional, classical and contemporary. She has extensive experience performing with bata de cola, abanico, manton and castanets. Linda has also taught at various dance schools in Vancouver: Harbour Dance, The Landing, and Pro Arte Centre.
She has produced, directed and choreographed 3 videos in the last few years: “Malamente” 2020, “Sabor Cubano” 2021 and “Vivaldi en Movimiento” 2022.
Sabor Cubano was commissioned for stage performance by Flamenco Rosario in December 2021.
As a pianist, Linda is a graduate form the University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano and Music Theory. She has pursued further studies in piano performance in the field of Jazz. She studied with Robert Doyle for 10 years. In Classical piano, Linda has studied with Ellen Silverman, and Robert Rogers.
Linda has participated in many festivals, master classes, and recitals. She has accompanied many students for their violin and flute exams.
An active member of many committees, such the President of the RCM Alumni Association and Registered Music Teachers Association. Convenor of many festivals, workshops, recitals master classes and fund raising events to promote uprising talented students. Promoter and Manager of concert pianists: Marek Jablonski and Henri-Paul Sicsic.
Another special enhancement to Linda’s artistic and musical experience comes as a devoted student to African and Afro-Cuban drumming. She has studied Djembe and Congas from Fana Soro for 7 years. Linda also currently studies art with Aikang Chen in water color, pastels, chalk and oils.
Linda believes that studying the arts is a life long journey.
As an active performer, teacher and adjudicator, Linda strongly believes that teaching children and young adults music is giving them “a gift for life”.
She currently operates a music studio in Surrey, teaching Classical, Jazz and Latin to students from beginner to advanced.
